An economic adviser to Myanmar's President has suggested that the government cancel farmers’ debts to help encourage agricultural development and empower the poorer sectors of society.
Dr U Myint, leader of the economic advisory group of President Thein Sein, made the suggestion during a gathering at the 25th anniversary of the 1988 pro-democracy protests held in Yangon on Tuesday.
Government announces allocation of 20 million cubic feet of natural gas to Kyauk Phyu

The state-run Newspaper New Light of Myanmar reported that Government will allocate only 20 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to Kyauk Phyu in Rakhine State. On completion, the Kyauk Phyu-Kunming natural gas pipeline will transport a total of 500 million cubic feet of gas per day. 400 million cubic feet will be delivered to China and only 100 million cubic feet will be reserved for local use.
